Ingredients explained

1

Pyrithione zinc (0.1%)

Also-called: Zinc Pyrithione | Function: Preservative, Anti-dandruff

Pyrithione zinc, also known as zinc pyrithione, is a compound of zinc and pyrithione. It acts as a broad-spectrum antimicrobial agent, preventing the growth of fungi and bacteria. It has long been used to treat dandruff and seborrheic dermatitis and is commonly found in dandruff shampoos.

Zinc pyrithione works by interfering with the utilization of nutrients by Malassezia, a fungus that can overgrow and cause various skin conditions such as dandruff, seborrheic dermatitis, tinea versicolor, and fungal acne. By inhibiting the growth of Malassezia, zinc pyrithione can help improve these conditions.

2

Water

Also-called: Aqua, Aqua/Water, Water/Aqua/Eau, Aqua/Water/Eau | Function: Skin conditioning, Solvent

Water serves as a fundamental component in skincare products, often listed as the first ingredient, which means it's the most abundant. It acts as a solvent, helping to dissolve other ingredients and facilitate the application and absorption of products.
